I’ve been busy this week working on a few cards and a gift box for our monthly Friday night stamping get-together. I wanted to do the lattice technique, so I decided to make a gift box rather than a card for this project. All of the flowers are handmade. The pink rose is made from a shimmery vellum type of paper and I used an ivory texture card stock for the small rosettes. The rosettes are very similar to the Recollection Flowers that are so popular right now. I saw a tutorial on making my own and couldn’t be happier with the results. They are quick and easy to make and cost next to nothing. I taught my 7 year old granddaughter to make them and she made several to put on a card yesterday. She made a 2-tone flower using purple and pink, her favorite colors, and they turned out perfect.
I wanted to use Flower Soft as one of the elements on a card, so I used a bit of the light pink on the flower and then used Diamond Stickles for the flowers on the “Love Birds” card. The bird house is made from a template from Chia. I wanted to do a spinoff of a card I saw awhile back using this same template, and this is what I decided to do. The original card layered strips of card stock to make the shingles but I didn’t want to do that for this particular card. I decided to do what I call the “Shadowing Shingles” technique (which I made up) and I like the effect. The birds are colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I think this card would be cute for an anniversary, wedding or even a fun Valentine’s Day card. Or just to say “I love you” to your sweetheart.
Last, but not least, is a summertime card I made using the strawberry stamp from my favorite stamp artist, Karen Lockhart. This was a fun card to make as I used some pretty strawberry paper I had in my stash. I paper pieced the bowl from a small sheet of green paper I also had hanging around. I love to color with Prismacolor Pencils, and this was as easy as it gets, just 2 colors and I was finished.
Tutorials on the lattice technique and mini rosettes can be found on my blog here.

I love the lattice box. Where did you find the technique for the lattice and small rosettes? If you’re granddaughter can make them, maybe I can too! 🙂
Thank you,
Barbara
You absolutely can make the rosettes, they are super simple and best of all use just small scraps and a punch. I’m sorry I forgot to add the info about the lattice technique and the mini rosettes. I just posted both tutorials. Thanks for the reminder.
By the way, I used the Fiskars punch rather than the EK Success and it worked perfectly. Thanks for visiting my blog.
oops, forgot to click a button.
