A big event in the offing is our 7th grandson’s first birthday. Kannon Michael will turn 1 next Tuesday and for once I wanted to be ready and not burning the midnight oil to get a card finished on time. I was inspired by a similar layout from Dawn Griffith’s Stamping Thoughts blog. The locomotive engine is a “Brad Buddy” I purchased awhile back from Paper Wishes. As usual, I think the card’s colors are more vibrant in person, but my photographic skills leave much to be desired. You may be thinking, why on Earth did she place the steam from the engine moving forward rather than back? Well, I’ve taken artistic license here because I wanted the glitter to go to the upper right hand corner. That’s OK, right? Isn’t that what artistic license is all about:-}
It was a whirlwind last week and I’m a little behind on talking about the twins shower I attended last Sunday. The shower was given for Julie McGinnis who is our son-in-law’s sister. She is expecting twins in the next few months, a boy Henry and a girl Harper. Such cute names. I wrote about her firstborn son, Grady, when he was born 18 months ago. As you may recall, he was born just one day before our little granddaughter, Gracie. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. Julie’s Mom, Cindy, and Ted’s Mom held the shower for her and it was a huge success.
As always, Cindy had all of the details for the event done to perfection. Cindy is incredibly talented and always makes the cakes for our family events. She took the theme for the party “Two Peas” and made custom invitations and a scrumptious custom decorated cake. In addition she designed hand decorated cookies for every guest to take home. Each guest also received a cute “Two Peas” candle which was Cindy’s inspiration for the theme. I forgot to bring my camera the day of the event, so I don’t have any pictures to share of the beautiful cake she made. However, I did bring home one of her beautiful cookie creations along with one of the inspiration candles to enjoy and share with y’all.
Julie received many beautiful gifts for the twins including handmade quilts from Cindy. It was such a fun event and we are now all anticipating the birth of those 2 precious babies in the coming months.
More cards on the drawing board that need to be finished by weeks’ end. I’ll share those as they are completed. Have a great day!!!
