I added the quotation marks on the title of this post because these are not my words but those of a fabulous blogger over at Making Our Mark.  Oh my goodness, I just discovered Colleen’s blog and am simply amazed at the talent and generosity given to her readers.

One particular article she wrote on her blog caught my attention “5 Mistakes You Might Make When Purchasing Copic Markers”.   This brief, but very informative article, offers information about the ins and outs of purchasing Copic Markers.  This may be old news to some of you, but for me I have found the world of Copics very confusing indeed.  I’ve watched with awe at the beautiful colored images my fellow card markers and paper crafters have created using Copics, yet I haven’t purchased any.  Why you ask?  Well, the cost is the biggest factor.  Secondly, there are so many choices of colors and types of markers available that I’ve found it rather overwhelming.  Paying $6.00+ per marker is a bit much given the fact that I know nothing about what colors or type of markers to purchase.  In addition, using the markers correctly to shade and color just seemed like something I should leave for true artists and not for a hobbyist like myself.  So I’ve stayed in my comfort zone using my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol (aka Odorless Mineral Spirits).

When I discovered Colleen’s blog called Making Our Mark I was amazed at the wealth of information she has about the world of Copics.   Colleen is generously offering beginner and intermediate Copic coloring classes for Free, yes Free, in July.  You can find information on her classes here.  Looking around her blog I discovered she also has an online store called Copic Marker Scrapbooking  which I’m anxious to peruse.  I also see where she has an online Library and Forum.

If offering some free classes wasn’t enough, Colleen also has a digital stamp of Glinda from Wizard of Oz that she is also generously offering for free.  The picture below is colored and illustrated by Guy Gondron. The free digital stamp is uncolored and ready for your own special artistic talents. Since I have grandchildren who love Dorothy and all those fabulous characters she meets in Oz, I can’t wait to make a card using this design.
