Hot glue guns are so helpful in the craft room yet can be so unliked at the same time. Why? The very name “hot glue” and the possibility of burns is the biggest pitfall. The second problem is the cord. Cords have been a necessity to the glue gun yet a negative aspect as well since they always seem to get in the way. In addition, many times cords make it difficult to craft where you want because there isn’t a convenient outlet.
Cathy Filian and Steve Piacenza of “Creative Juice” fame must have had the same issues with hot glue, so they set out to remedy the problem. They invented a 5 tool set called the Hot Glue Gun Helpers (aptly named) from Plaid. This tool set addresses all of my hot glue issues and then some. This amazing set of tools offers a non-stick mat (measuring 14 1/2″ x 11 1/2″), coated tweezers, 3 finger caps, a press wand & paddle. Genius is the word that comes to mind when talking about this set of tools. I saw the set critiqued by Christine over at the Scraptime podcast and knew it was something I needed, not wanted mind you, needed.
The finger caps are a dream come true, no burns even when putting your finger directly on the hot glue. The Press Wand is a real selling point for me as it allows the user to press or smear the glue into a thin strip without sticking or getting burned. How many times have you wanted a thin layer of glue rather than a glob but didn’t have a way to go about that task? The mat is very practical and saves the tabletop from those infamous glue strings sticking to its surface. The tweezers & paddle are icing on the cake in my opinion. I was so sold on the tool set that I immediately and set out to find where to purchase one. Bingo, while doing a search I found a fabulous online craft source called Eclectic Paperie that not only offered the Hot Glue Gun Helpers that I wanted but also has a plethora of other craft products that interested me.
That brings me to my second hot glue gun issue, the cord. I researched the I Bond fron Imaginisce and found all positive reviews from crafters on You Tube and blogs so I knew that was the glue gun I wanted. You guessed it, Eclectic Paperie stocks that product too.
Let’s talk about the I Bond and its selling points for a minute. The I Bond uses 4 AA batteries which makes it portable, the user can carry and use it anywhere with no cord to get in the way. I feel the most cost-effective way to go is to use rechargeable batteries. It also uses standard mini glue sticks that can be purchased at most craft stores. Imaginisce offers their own brand of white glue sticks, but they also offer glitter and colored glue sticks for those unique types of projects. The I Bond has a built-in kick stand and all of the reviewers said it didn’t drip when sitting on the kick stand.
Now it’s time to talk about my new-found favorite craft resource called Eclectic Paperie. This is a company that is run by Daisy and her family and offers over 2,000 products at very attractive prices. Once I discovered this fabulous shop I was so excited to order both the I Bond and Hot Glue Gun Helpers. Daisy has a huge variety of products from many of my favorite companies including stamps from Crafty Secrets. I love the Claudine Hellmuth line of paints and mediums and Eclectic Paperie offers all of those products. Who doesn’t love Tim Holtz products? Yep, they have those too. They also have papers from a large variety of companies including Authentique, Basic Grey & Graphic 45 . You get the idea here, Eclectic Paperie is quite a find and I’m so happy to have run across this fabulous shop. If you’re in the mood to find some great new crafty goodness to help you and your creativity, hop on over to Eclectic Paperie and see all of the wonderful products they have to tempt you. I must also say they ship very quickly; my order came in a matter of days and I couldn’t be happier.
As always, I’m in no way paid to say anything either negative or positive about any of the companies or products I talk about, I just like to pass along tidbits of information about my favorite finds as they come to my attention.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a blessed day!!!
