As I posted previously, I’ve been working on making backpack purses for our Granddaughters. I’ve pondered what to make for our Grandsons, but couldn’t come up with anything unique to make for them. So I purchased some fabric with tractors & cars on it and put it aside to make a tote bag. I’m glad I procrastinated because during my blog wanderings I ran across the perfect solution for something to make for our Grandsons. They are called Car Cozies. I was so excited to have found such a perfect project for the boys. I immediately set out to buy some complimentary fabric for the car/tractor fabric I already had and then sat down to the sewing machine to make the Cozies.
I made only one change to the original pattern posted by Sharla at “My Little Gems” and that was to quilt the outer fabric. I quilted the Cozie by sewing vertical lines 1 3/4″ apart and used fusible batting. I use this product in my purses and thought it would work perfectly for this project. I was right, it worked great and added enough substance to the finished project which I liked. I am so happy with the results and feel good that I have something unique to have made for my special little guys.
Thanks to Sharla for the great idea and easy to follow tutorial.
