It first starts with a pattern. I purchased this Sew Batik pattern at my local quilt shop, Raspberry Patch Quilt Shop. It was in the clearance bin which made it a great find.
Testing, testing…I always like to try out my quilting pattern to get everything right before I start on my projects. These are the practice tests that I worked on. The light fabric is the lining that I used inside the purse. I’ve never used fusible batting for a project, but the girls at the quilt shop recommended it so I decided to give it a whirl. It worked great.
The final result.
This is the first of 3 quilted backpack purses that I’m making for our granddaughters. We have 4 granddaughters, but the youngest is a bit too young for this right now. So she’ll get one when she grows a little more.
I haven’t quilted for awhile and I must say it was so much fun to sit down at my machine and sew again. I’ll share the other 2 backpacks once they are finished. Until the next post, have a great day!!!
